RALPH LUNDSTEN & LEO NILSONFEEL / IT

OUR LEGACY WORK SHOP and Jazz är farligt presents ”Feel It”, a re-issue of Ralph Lundstens original 7”.

"Feel It" is the name of an exhibition in 1968 at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm as well as the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York in 1969 where Ralph Lundsten and Leo Nilson participated as both artists as well as composers.

Ralph Lundsten (b.1936) is one of Sweden's most extraordinary composers of electronic synthesizer music. He is also an artist, fimmaker and author. Ralph lives in a distinguishable pink house by Skurusundet outside fo Stockholm, where he also in 1959 created Andromeda; an image and music studio with for its time very futuristic and progressive recording technology, where most of the equipment was built by Finnish designer, philosopher and artist, Erkki Juhani Kurenniemi (1941-2017).

"Feel It" was recorded using the Kurenniemi built Andromatic polyphonic synthesizer. Andromatic is a ten-step sequencer with VCO where the tone in each step is controlled by three potentiometers. With the top one you can change the pitch, the middle volume and the bottom pitch. The output tones are connected through a matrix where they can be controlled with plugs to a filter unit. The matrix can be programmed with two types of connection plugs which give different results.

The sides of the rack drawer are not made of ordinary aluminum but made of plexiglass, so that the electronics can be seen. Andromatic is also a work of art, a tribute to technology and with that said electronics can be seen.
